Instructions to make Vaghareli Khichdi with Tomato Vagharyu:
- Soak toor dal for half an hour.
- Heat oil in a pressure cooker. Add mustard and cumin let them splutter then add cloves, cinnamon,curry leaves. Then add asafoetida and add rice and toor dal mix well. Then add turmeric powder,red chilli powder, coriander powder and salt mix well.
- Now add water in it and cook it for a minute until water boils.
- Now cover the lid of cooker and cook for 5-6 whistles on medium heat.
- Then turn off the stove. Once pressure releases naturally, open the lid,mix and serve.
- For tomato vagharyu : In a pan heat oil add cumin seeds,cloves and cinnamon then add asafoetida and tomatoes. Mix well. Cook it until tomato soften.
- Now add salt and sugar mix well.
- Now add water then add red chilli powder, turmeric powder mix well and cook it for 5 minutes and tomato vagharyu is ready.
- Now serve it with khichdi.
