A gingerbread house must be made of gingerbread; otherwise, it is not a gingerbread house. If you want to use an edible biscuit or cookie type product to make a house, or for that matter any other. Steps to make Gingerbread house:
- Melt both sugar, syrup, salt and butter together on low heat in a big saucepan. Once all melted turn the heat off.

1. Rest your dough in the fridge for 15-20 min. While waiting for dough to rest you can cut up your gingerbread house template. - Once your dough rested, use 2 big pieces of baking paper just enough to cover your dough. Place your dough on one baking paper and place another one over. Use your rolling pin start to roll them out from the middle of your dough until you get about half of centimetres thick.
- Cut out the required shapes. You can also cut up some Christmassy shapes like tree, snowman any other character you prefer.
- Id you have some leftover dough you can roll them out thinly into a big shape and cut to make an edible base. I cut out into big circle to make a base.
- Bake them in the oven on 130’c - 150’c for 12-15 min (you need to keep an eye on them as they cook quite quickly) I normally know when my gingerbread cooked is when your house smell of gingerbread 🥰.
- Time to decorate, mixing icing sugar and white egg together (you can use water) and use it to combine your house together. Put your creative hat one and make your gingerbread house looks gorgeous.
