Stuffed fish fry is one of my favourite fish fry recipe, which I learnt from my mom. When I was a kid, when my mom used to fry this I used to wait to taste it hot. The whole kitchen and rooms used fill with the sweet aroma of this frying masala. My mom used to prepare stuffed fish fry particularly with.
Instructions to make Goan Stuffed Fish Fry:
- Wash and clean the mackerels /ayla Remove head and fins.Now slit them in the middle,keeping one side closed
- Make some cuts in the fish and marinate them with turmeric powder and salt.Keep aside
- Heat oil in a pan.Add cinnamon stick and cumin seeds and let them splutter.Add onion,ginger, garlic and grated coconut.Saute till they become light brown.
- Add chilli powder,coriander powder and turmeric powder.Saute well.Add tamarind juice and chopped coriander.Sprinkle enough salt.Remove from fire.
- Let it cool down.Grind it to a coarse paste without adding water.
- Now stuff the mackerels/ayla with this masala.Close the fish carefully.If there is remaining masala(u will have),spread it outside the fish.Keep for 1 hr.
- After 1 hr,mix together rava,chilli powder and salt in a plate.Roll each fish in rava mix carefully.
- Heat oil in a pan and fry the fish in low-medium flame.Fry on both sides.Remove from fire and enjoy
